Leading into the long summer of super serious blockbusters, it is nice to have a spot of silliness to cleanse the palate. And Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is just that; a delightfully silly breath of fresh air to remind us that Hollywood is capable periodically removing its own head from its ass.

While Alice Through the Looking Glass is not as terrible or insufferable as Tim Burton’s first foray into Lewis Carroll’s world, the same word kept repeating in my mind while watching the 3D film: Waste.

Amidst a cocktail of cigarette smoke, booze, Yoo-hoo, blood, morality and slapstick, we find The Nice Guys—Shane Black’s latest Los Angeles crime yarn, set in the late 70s, about a duo of investigative idiots following the trail of a missing girl to discover both conspiracy and corruption.

In artistic ventures, it can rarely be considered a good thing to ignore the sensible and the logical. It’s something that many can appreciate even in a movie as unrealistic as X-Men: Apocalypse.

For the most part, it helps when movies tend to need stories. That’s what we always anticipate, but they’re not always important or even good. That’s a problem that Kill Zone 2 (SPL 2: A Time for Consequences) has.
